Diagnoses Treated

Sarah offers physical therapy for infants and young children with a variety of diagnoses, including:

  • Congenital musculoskeletal disorders (i.e. Scoliosis, flat feet, hip dysplasia, joint deformities)
  • Legg Calve Perthes disease
  • Musculoskeletal or post concussive headaches

  • Developmental delays.

Treatments Offered

Family centered care is a priority when treating infants and young children, and each child’s program is tailored to meet their family’s unique needs. Sarah uses a combination of stretching, strengthening, massage, and manual therapy including myofascial release and craniosacral therapy to meet each child’s goals.

Other treatments such as Kinesiotaping, orthotic measurement, and gross motor training are used when appropriate. Home programming is an integral part of each family’s care to maximize the efficiency and outcomes of therapy.

Why Pediatric Physical Therapy?

Children are not just little adults! Their bodies are still growing and are very different than ours, so their physical rehab also needs to be different. Successful treatment will take into account each child’s distinct developmental age and stage.
 
Infants and children don’t exercise the same way as adults. Progress towards goals will be accomplished through playful interaction.
 
Infants and children are not independent. They still rely on their parents for daily care and guidance. Therefore, the child is not the only focus. Therapy programs will be family centered and tailored to fit the unique needs of the whole family. Home programs will also be designed around the needs of the entire family.
